Course Description:

In this experimental intaglio workshop, AP3 Resident Artist Ellie Hogan will delve into the use of the softground technique for intaglio plates. Ground is applied to a copper plate, then objects like fabric or dried leaves are pressed into that ground to create an impression. The plate is then placed in ferric chloride to etch the impression into the copper. From there, you ink it up like a regular intaglio plate and send it through the press. Playing with different textures and materials can bring unexpected results, which some may call "happy accidents" :).

Add a new flair to your intaglio practice! This workshop is best suited for those who have previously printed intaglio pieces, but please contact us if you're a beginner, and we'll be happy to assist you.

All materials included.

Date: Wednesdays, August 19 & 26. From 6 - 8:30pm.

Instructor: Ellie Hogan
